Yeah so I'm sure that we've all heard of the new pokemon games coming out on DS: Pearl and Diamond. From what I read in the new Nintendo Power issue, it looks like it's gonna have alot of new features in it. For example, there's now differences between most girl and guy pokemon, big WiFi use (like being able to trade pokemon with people in Japan), and the Day-and-Night transition that people got to use in a couple of the older games (Gold and Silver I think). Not to mention a whole new line-up of pokemon, most of which haven't appeared in any of the American shows yet (From what I've heard, some of the baby pokemon like mime jr. have). The starter pokemon are all new too. The water one is basically a penguin, the grass one is a turtle, and the fire one's a monkey. As for the graphics, they still maintain their pokemon-esque look but add a more 3D look to go with the DS. So does anyone have plans to buy one or both of the games? I'm a pokemon game fan myself so I'm getting atleast one of them (probably Diamond cause I like the legendary pokemon for it better). Any complaints about the new setup?

My sister actually is starting to watch this stuff. I want to shoot myself. I use to play way back, I, obviously, won't be getting either, it's gotten really old.

I liked the first couple, but that was way back when. Now, they're all basically the same formula with different creatures. of course there will be some that just suck and others will be overwhelmingly strong. If they could make a game where all the pokemon are balanced across the board, along with a new story, it might be worth getting.

I think that they're making way to much Pokemon, as I've never been one to collect them all. Just beat the crap out of every trainer and raise my party to 100. I'll be getting Diamond due to the legendary. XD

Another reason why I want to get it, is because its in a new world, so its completely new to explore.

I'm still confused as to what the Underground is supposed to be. NP was a little vague on that.

As for myself, pretty much after Mew and Mewtwo I lost interest in the world of Pokémon. I still can't imagine all the damn Pokémon they've added since then. Surprisingly I'm starting to get back into the the little monsters. I don't know why, maybe because my little sister began collecting the cards about a year ago, but either way my interest in the world of Pokémon is back, though it's strictly for the video games. Plus I've been waiting for another good RPG to play on my DS, FFIII has gotten kind of old.

So yeah, I'll be getting diamond, just because pearl isn't as cool. :p

w00t. 3 for Diamond so far.

Diamonds > Pearls

>.>

I'm thinking of getting the fire starter. Cause y'know. I don't like the look of the penguin and turtle as much as the monkey.

If I feel the Pokemon bug bite me, I might get one of them just to see how they've done it with the DS, although most of it is probably going to be the same as the other ones.

The monkey is wicked cool looking, then again I've always chosen the water types for my starters, so I'll probably end up doing the same. No love for the grass types? :p

Grass kinda sucks>_>; I don't think I've ever used a grass starter...or even had a grass pokemon for too long.....

Red and Blue: Venosaur and Blastoise were great. Charizard had an extra weakness as a Fire/Flying type. Which actually made him one of the weaker ones. Charizard looked the coolest though.

I started with Blastoise, then replayed with Venosaur, and then replayed again with Charizard. All were good. Loved Charizard.

Gold and Silver: I started with Chikorita (grass), and then Totodile (water), and of course, Cyndaquil (fire). Loved Typholosion.

Ruby and Sapphire: I only played with Blaziken (fire) and never used Mudkip (water) or Treekco (grass).

So Diamond and Pearl I will use the Fire starter. As for grass starters, the originals were very good, but they progressively got worse.

Ah yesh, my childhood memory. It was a big craze around my neighborhood with all the Pokemon cards... that is until YGO cards came. << But I remember my brothers and I playing the games. My mom used to play too... yeah.

Anyway, I liked the show when I was like 6, 7, or 8 but then as I grew older, I obviously started to part with it. But yeah, it's really repetitive now as I always hear at least one Pokemon pun/joke/mentioning each day. But tis alright.

I think I have my Crystal Version somewhere lost in my closet... >.>

Its kinda one of those growing up things. I notice everyone (almost everyone) watches it in their youth and love it to death. But as they go to Middle School / High School, they avoid it like the plague.

Now people call it stupid and gay. But most don't realize that a couple years prior, they loved every moment. I'm glad I can still be proud to say I love Pokemon. Screw everyone else and their ideas, Pokemon rocks (Except the new voices. Those suck.)

Actually in my middle school, Pokemon was kind of the thing, that's when it started to really take off, 7 or 8 years ago I guess. The only reason I even got into Pokemon was for the money, I say a bunch of kids in school paying crazy amounts for these cards so I figured I'd capitalize on this thing. Initially I mad some good bucks, considering the parents bought all my cards :p but I remember one day in particular that signified the decline of Pokemon, for myself anyway.

I use to always sell my cards to this one guy, we were both in 7th grade. I had a bunch of foils and he'd literally purchase them all. One day I go up to him with some new ones, mainly Blastoise, and wanted to sell it to him. I started at about $40, he told me no... this went on I finally got down to about $20, well under the value back then, and he finally told me he wasn't interested in the cards anymore.

It seemed that from that day, the value of the cards was declining, so I was stuck with around 300 Pokemon cards. Eventually I forgot about them, then found them my senior year of high school and gave them all to a neighbor, who was about 10 at the time. Good times. Now I can buy the cards on eBay for a fraction of what I use to sell/buy them for. Charizard for $5, nice.

Yeah. XD I know that Elementary kids are crazy for Pokemon cards that people would make cheap money. I liked my cards way to much to do that. After all, I got it as a reward for helping around the house. >>;

My hard work. No one else's! *grabs cards viciously*

Yeah I remeber pokemon cards...we never actually followed the rules....Just kind of like "Hah 50 damage! I pwn you!!" And when it came to trading...I kind of just went for pretty cards. Like I trade these two items cards to a friend of mine that were first edition for a holographic Vaporeon card cause i liked how it looked. We both went away thinking that we got the better end of the deal XD

My sister.

Kana Has a sister? Since when?

But If I had a DS I'd Buy one of the games for pure nostalgia.

What? They have a monkey as the fire starter!

I've gotten the Diamond one.

Has nothing to due with the DS, but has something to do with Pokemon. When it was cool to have the cards my sister would rip kids off of them. Two pushes on the tire swing for a pokemon was her gig... She did quite well on collecting them that way.

Pokemon will always have this little niche in my heart. Red was the first game I ever played and really brought me into video games, anime, and even manga. That may seem weird to some older gamers, but hey, I was five. Can't blame me for not being born earlier.

Anyways. Ya, Daimond.

Something... different about this one. So far, it's better than R/S, but it doesn't seem like the generic fanbase is taking the new Pokemon very well.

'Unoriginal' my ass. At least they're plausible.

I'm looking at YOU, Tangela.

And OH MY GOD, Crasher Wake. I'm in love.

I only transfered females and weaker ones onto mine so I could still play Colosseum on the gamecube. But since I have a few lucky eggs, it's easy to train them especially since they get that exp boost from not having pearl being the OT.
