What's your favorite genre of games, and why?

Mine has to be RPGs - Role Playing Games because I like games with a cool / fun story, and all the twists and turnouts that come at you. You never really know when it'll end, unless the characters say it, but after beating RPGs, I crave for more.

RPGs, mostly because of the reasons already metioned above and they actually are fun to play for hours and hours.

I was just about to make this thread, or something similar. Anyway, as the rest of you I adore the RPG. My main reasons are 1) the story and 2) it lets me go at my own pace. Many other games they require you to act fast, though RPG's you pretty much have all the time you'll need. I also like to mix it in with strategy as well as the classic platforming, such as Super Mario Bros.

I prefer RPG's there is countless of hours of gameplay and there awesome to play, aswell I love sports games/racing games I get really addicted to them.

I enjoy RPG's and there most likely my favorite genre but I also like to play sports(arcade) games in between my 50hr RPGs.

Lol, it seems like everyone here likes RPGs, Dusk included. Dusk also likes DDR(don't really know what category that would be in>.> <.<) and Fighting games. Dusk tried to get Sraphy to play DDR but...it's a hopless battle...

also Car racing games, RPG like FF is alright, but I do get bored of it sometimes, since I like to actually walk around and fight.

I also like fighting games, like Street Fighter.

Whoa alot of RPG fans in here.
I personally realy like action/adventure games like Devil May Cry 3 and God of War....that realy is my kind of game,busting demons and traveling long beautifull areas and doing some cool puzzle and fighting more demons and then fighting even stronger demons.
Resident Evil 4 is also a real good one that i can mention of the genre.

I also like fighting games like Teken 5,Soul Calibur 3 and Dbz Budokai 3.
Dont like Budokai Tenkaichi tho`...........it was horrible.

I'm preferable to RPG's and Hack and Slash. And I suppose First person shooters, as long as there's still an element of being the crap out of whatever's in front of me.

I may like the timing and mental challenge of RPG's, but when I get right down to it, I like hitting things. With swords. And crowbars. And running into a dungeon and killing everything.

So Zelda's up there in my books.

I love RPG's but I'm usually on the computer more than my PS2 so I don't have the time for them much. I love Fighting games for a quick beat down, oh and platformer's are always great!

I love survival horror games where you're up against a variety of weird monsters in uncomfortable places. I've always liked the idea of being stranded somewhere with very little bullets.

I haven't played any video games in a while, but shooters are probably the only thing I'd be able to stand now. I no longer have the patience for RPGs.

Shooters are actually really good namely Resident Evil 4.

Anyways, I think I prefer Legend of Zelda more then any other RPG out there.

So I like games along the lines of Legend of Zelda and Mario.
I also like fighting games to some extent
